Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) has been proudly involved in the CALOHEA (Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia) project since February 2021. This project focuses on three lines of work that correspond to three necessary Recognition Mechanisms at both institutional and regional levels. 

CALOHEA encompasses 31 institutions across 13 countries over 2 continents, working together to drive institutional progress within management operations and the internationalization of higher education within the region.

Project Aim

The CALOHEA project aims to contribute to the internationalization of higher education institutions in South-East Asia by developing a series of interrelated measures in three Key Recognition Mechanisms.

The CALOHEA project unites thirty-one institutions across eight countries within ASEAN and five countries within Europe. The institutions create teams in the subject areas of Civil Engineering, Medicine, and Teacher Education. Together, these teams form a Subject Area Group (SAG). The ASEAN University Network (AUN) acts as coordinator within the region, while the University of Groningen (RUG) is the project coordinator. Participating institutions were carefully selected based on shared values ​​and complementary expertise for maximum impact at institutional, national, and regional levels.

This large-scale project addresses the issues faced by institutions in the South-East Asia (SEA) region. It specifically focuses on internationalization and the three Key Recognition Mechanisms (RMs):

– RM1: Creation and use of Regional Subject-Specific Qualifications and Assessment Reference Frameworks to permit greater comparability of institutional degree program profiles.

– RM2: Installation of the culture of Student Workload Measurement as an integral part of curriculum design.

– RM3: Implementation of Authentic Assessment of internationally comparable Learning Outcomes in degree programs.
